After using guided meditations for a while, you may start to prefer to meditate on your own.
Now, you don't want to be peaking at the clock every two minutes. It disturbs your practice. To prevent this, meditation timer audio files are useful tools. They usually sound a nice bell, gong, or other sound at the start and end of the meditation time.
They can be downloaded at different locations. Here are a few of them:
The famous Podcast Zencast offers us three free meditation timers. No bell or gong, but just a little soothing music at the start and end of the meditation.
Audiodharma.org lists no less than 6 timers, ranging from 15 to 60 minutes! They use a gong.
And finally, JetCityOrange has 5 timers. From 10 to 30 minutes. They sound a thin sounding bell. There is no sound at the start of these timers.
There are undoubtedly many more meditation timers to be found online, but the ones listed above should be sufficient. Unless you want to meditate for hours on end. In that case, build it up slowly, be careful.
